LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST AID AT WORK

Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose.

Successful completion will result in the knowledge and skills that have been identified by the HSE for the management of emergency incidents and the treatment of illness and injuries in the workplace.

What does the First Aid at Work Course cover?

Topics include:

  • Roles & responsibilities
  • Dealing with collapse (with and without breathing)
  • Choking
  • Bleeding (including Catastrophic)
  • Shock
  • Seizures
  • Minor workplace incidents
  • Major illnesses
  • Common and serious workplace injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Burns treatment
  • Eye injuries
  • First Aid Kits and usage

Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical and the course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance.

Qualification training requires:

  • Minimum tutor contact time of 18 hours (excluding breaks).
  • 1:12 tutor to candidate ratio.
  • Successful completion will result in candidate gaining ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work with a valid (license to practice) lifetime of 3 years from the date of completion.
  • The HSE strongly recommend candidates take an annual 3-hour refresher during the lifetime of the qualification.
  • FAAW re-qualification is by taking the full FAW qualification again. Provided the candidates FAAW certificate has not expired by more than 1 calendar month the contact time may be reduced to 12 hours over 2 days.
  • Calendar month means if the expiry date is 5th of one month then the candidates have until 4th of the next month to be re-qualified

Level 3 Award In First Aid At Work (R-qualification)

This Re-Qualification course which is conducted over two days is provided in order that the FAAW Qualification can be maintained

ITC Level 3 Award In Emergency First Aid At Work

Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose.

If the risk assessment indicates that employees may be faced with life-threatening incidents where they have to manage the casualty for up to 10 minutes, or deal with very minor incidents that will not require medical assistance, then the EFAW is the course that meets this need.

This course runs for a total of 6 hours over 1 day.

This qualification is designed to provide essential life-saving skills. Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical and the course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance.

Qualification training requires:

  • Minimum tutor contact time of 6 hours (excluding breaks).
  • 1:12 tutor to candidate ratio.
  • Each delivery session must be a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Successful completion will result in candidate gaining ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work with a valid (license to practice) lifetime of 3 years from the date of completion.
  • The HSE strongly recommend candidates take an annual 3-hour refresher during the lifetime of the qualification
  • The qualification is re-validated by attending another EFAW course after 3 years.

Introduction Course dates are not set which is aimed at meeting the needs of the customer. The course will be held in Plymouth, Truro and at customer location should it be agreed.
